My work explores the human figure and how we understand our place and purpose in the world. I paint recreations of my own body, pushing the boundaries of my own comfortability. I draw upon personal memories and experiences that others can relate to such as shifting religion, addiction, and a disconnect from oneself. I consider the ways in which humans twist and pull apart our natural bodies to fit into what current society demands of us.

I work on organically shaped wood panels and canvas structures to result in a more tangible object. By creating these shapes without the use of electrically powered tools, I am utilizing labor of the human body in its recreation. Combining influences of contemporary figure work and traditional methods of wood working and stitching, my work participates in the continuing narrative of how humans exist within their surroundings. I invite my audience to consider their own reactions and understandings of society and their environment.
